Our team
At La Méduse, our year-round team consists of two people: Sophie Bourgeois and Catherine Chevrier-Turbide. They are two young women artists and co-owners of the company who love to create and work together. They are always here to meet you!
SOPHIE BOURGEOIS
When technique and delicacy meet, Sophie Bourgeois expresses herself.
A glass artist for several years, Sophie Bourgeois creates fragile universes in her studio, which are the result of her mastery of glasswork and blown glass techniques. She combines in her work "heavy" objects that she arranges in fragile compositions, trying to deceive appearances.
In her work, Sophie plays with balances, solids and voids, in a search for lightness and aesthetics. She first works on technique, which for her is more than a tool, but the result of a mastery of the material and therefore an achievement as a glass artist. The technique, then the form, then the meaning. These are the aspects that define in the same order the creations of Sophie Bourgeois

CATHERINE CHEVRIER-TURBIDE
What is living on an island? In an island environment, people live tight. Everyone knows each other, everyone lives nearby. Impossible to flee. No running away. Welcome to limited territory.
Influenced by the island environment where she lives, Catherine Chevrier Turbide is interested in this close proximity between people.
Through her glass creations, she explores the "living together". Thus, she creates microcosms of glass, islets of glass, where she puts in relation different glass elements. In an kiln, under different temperatures, it allows each piece of glass to express their personality.
The resulting encounters, are sometimes superb, sometimes curiosities. First, there is the encounter between her and her work and then the desire that the work meets other people. "I like to explore these reactions of matter, they provoke in me emotions that I want to share".
Each time, she is amazed by the beauty and uniqueness of the works created, as they tell stories. They are for her poems. Her artistic approach is a search for the invisible link. She seeks beauty in the mix of glass, to be able to share it with the outside world, because her goal is to create a link between her work and the public through the glass.
